Canyon Lake, Texas

You don’t have to be on the water to enjoy Canyon Lake. Hike or stroll the trails around Canyon Lake for gorgeous views and a chance to appreciate the surrounding nature. There are plenty of unofficial trails along the shoreline, but the two primary trails are marked and maintained.

Madrone Trail

Madrone Trail is located between Canyon Park and Swim Beach #1 on the west side of Canyon Lake. This 7.6-mile rocky trail is great for hiking or mountain biking. The trail is currently free to use, but signs at the park will advise of any changes. There is ample parking at the trailhead lot. If you work up a sweat on your hike or ride, cool off at Swim Beach #1 or relax in Canyon Park when you’re done.

Vekeda Real Walkway

Vekeda Real Walkway is a paved path over the Canyon Lake dam, connecting Overlook Park and North Park. This walkway offers amazing views of the southern portion of Canyon Lake and the dam area.

While Overlook Park and North Park have no designated swim areas, many who use the Vekeda Real Walkway choose to take a dip in the clear waters before or after their walk.
